The following information is to help customers new to Protective Coatings or the
aerospace finishing industry.
1. Be sure to understand credit terms. New customers are generally COD unless credit
terms are established. Call Account Receivable for information araccount.
2. Confirm schedules. To avoid any misunderstanding, always call Scheduling for
confirmation. Only the Scheduling Department is authorized to give you a promise
date.Scheduling
3. Confirm specifications. If you don't have a formal quote, inquire first to see
if we have the required aerospace approval. If your specifications aren't industry
standards, you may have to provide them - in advance if possible. Call Sales or
Quality Assurance.Sales
4. Make your P.O. explicit. The biggest error of new customers is not stating everything
necessary on the Purchase Order. Even if you've discussed your job with Sales, we
must have complete processing instructions when we receive your order to avoid any
delays.
- Include drawings with every job. Blueprints are as important for finishing as for
manufacturing the parts.
- Always include the material type and heat treat condition (hardness). This information
is necessary for every finishing process we do.
- Write out exactly what you want done. Don't just write, "Finish per drawing." Instead,
specify all finishes and pertinent notes, for example: "Cad plate all surfaces per
QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 2, except 2.500 diameter per flagnote 6."
5. Send thread or spline gauges. Customers must understand that threads and splines
plate at a different rate from the rest of the part. We cannot guarantee your parts
will accept gauges after plating unless we have them when we plate.
If you have any questions, please call - we're more than happy to help you to assure
that your orders are finished correctly, on time.
